This scholarship program is designed to recognize leaders in the Indigenous community by offering scholarships to Indigenous students attending post-secondary institutions. Each year, eight (8) awards are distributed to indigenous students – two (2) from Treaty 6, two (2) from Treaty 7, two (2) from Treaty 8 and two (2) Métis students who demonstrated financial need for contribution to education costs. Preference will be given to students who are working on their first degree, and up to half of the Awards will give preference to students enrolled in programs specific to the electricity transmission sector including: Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Powerline Technician Apprenticeship, Power System Electrical Apprenticeship, Pre-Apprenticeship – Powerline or Power Systems Technician, Utility Tree Worker and Utility Tree Trimmer Safety Training (Professional Vegetation Managers Association recognized course).
